Situated in northern Natal, in the Maputaland Forest, is the secluded Rocktail Bay Lodge, offering perhaps the most private beach experience in South Africa. Here you can enjoy strolls along the deserted beach, excellent surf and fly fishing, snorkelling and swimming in the warm Indian ocean. In summer, nocturnal explorations of the beach in search of egg-laying turtles can be arranged. Accommodation is in ten wood and thatch "tree-house" en suite chalets raised up on stilts into the forest canopy, each with a wooden deck.
|Set in the heart of Maputaland, the Phinda Resource Reserve has a pristine beauty and timelessness that is part of ancient Africa. It stands at a junction where tropical species reach the limit of their migrations south and where others end their journey north.|
|The result is an unmatched biodiversity of fauna and flora within the seven distinctly different ecosystems of the Phinda Resource Reserve. At Forest Lodge, walls have become windows, opening onto the pageant of the living forest. Each of the sixteen glass-walled suites is raised on stilts above the forest floor and is equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, telephones and bar fridges.||
